Nevaeh Wilson

June 13th, 2022

My name is Nevaeh Wilson. I am 16 years old and live in Georgia. I am the only child and I attend Peach County High School and am in the class of 2024. I am attending this journalism camp because of my love for sports. I want to become a sports journalist and commentator for pro and college sports. I have not always been in love with sports. This sudden interest started in 2019 when COVID first began and nothing else was on TV, but sports so I sat down and watched one game and got hooked. I also fell in love with the University of Georgia and all of Georgia’s sports teams. I am currently the junior editor of the yearbook at my school and will be senior editor my senior year. I will also be doing sideline reporting for the football team at my school this season. I am super pumped about this because this is what I want to do as a career. I want to be on camera talking about sports, interviewing players and just watching what I love, sports. I don’t do many task that don’t pertain sports because like I have mentioned I am in love with all of them. Becoming a sports journalist with the help of God is definitely in my future, because without him I would not even have this passion and drive to want to become something big, so I will always give praise and honor to him. You all will definitely see me on TV in the next 8 to 10 years and I hope to see all the people that I am with at this camp living out their dream as well.

Edward Senter

Athlete. Brother. Friend.

Hello my name is Edward Senter. I was born in Atlanta, Nov. 3 2008. I used to attend schools in Henry County, but now attend Davis Middle School in Rockdale County. I am at this journalism camp because my backup plan in life is to become a commentator or work for ESPN. Even though this is only my backup plan i still have to work on it and become the best it can at it. Other activities i’m in besides journalism are sports. I play baseball and football. I enjoy playing 3rd base and left field while playing baseball. In football I like to play linebacker or d end. I want to be a MLB player when i grow up. i believe i can do it but if things don’t go as planed I will become a commentator.

Jordan Anderson

Hi my name is Jordan Anderson, most people call me jorjor. I am originally from Pittsburg, but moved to Georgia when I was around five. I attend Northview High School as a rising junior.

To be honest I didn’t even know that UGA offered summer camps. My mom was the one who introduced the camp to me and suggested it as something fun and or beneficial to do over the summer. At first I didn’t want to go, but now that I am here I’m very glad that I came. Other than my journalism activities, I am heavily involved in sports. A few years ago I just quit gymnastics due to an injury. I currently, run track and play flag football. I really enjoy watching movies, for the sole reasoning of breaking the movie down. I love watching how movies are put together and how someone’s idea in their head is put together in real life. This is why I really want to be a producer and or screenwriter when I’m older. I also want to major in journalism because it is a broader field. This is my plan if the film track doesn’t work.

A little about Jackye

Hey y’all! My name is Jackye Jiotsop and I am from Alpharetta, Georgia. I am 16 years old and I was born in Kansas City, Kansas. I guess you could relate me to Dorthy, though I’ve never been stuck in a tornado before.

My favorite sports team is the Kansas City Chiefs. Even though they choked during the 2021 playoff game for the Super Bowl, I still have to represent my team. When you first meet me, I can come off as a shy person, but once you get to know me, I have a really good personality. I have never been on an airplane before. My favorite color is sage green, or baby pink. I have a really deep obsession with Beyonce. She is probably my favorite person on this earth besides my mom. I know every single song, every music video, dance move, concert, tour, family member, friend, and background dancer associated with Beyonce. Not personally, but since I know everything about her, it makes me feel like we’re best friends.

I am a current dancer at my school. I love dancing in all areas but specifically hip-hop and jazz. I am also an aspiring journalist and decided to participate in the University of Georgia’s Journalism camp. I hope that I will learn about Journalism and also have a stronger writing style. I will be a rising junior, which means I have to start thinking about college. That doesn’t really excite me but I know most kids have to go through with it also, so I know I’m not alone. My dream college is Northwestern University. It’s a really hard school to get into, but I believe if I work my butt off this year, that I can get into the school. It’s amazing because it’s so close to Chicago, but still far enough to have its own college town space.

.Some random facts about myself are that I am a master “Just Dance” player. If someone is going to challenge me, they have to be mentally and physically prepared of what they are getting themselves into. I can count on my fingers how many times I’ve lost at Just Dance. Speaking of my fingers, I am actually double jointed in my fingers. I can move them back really far to the point people think they are going to fall off. I always get that stare like, “That’s so gross”. But it does make a really cool party trick!

Blog #1: Your autobiography

Tell us a little bit about yourself. Anything you want, really. But if you need some prompts, answer the following questions:

• Who are you? (name, what to people call you)
• Where are you from? (hometown, city of birth, high school)
• Why are you at journalism camp?
• What other non-journalism activities are you involved it?
• What do you want to do when you grow up?

Along with your autobiography, upload a photo of yourself and place it into your post in the upper-right corner. Any photo should work (other people can be in it), but you should be clearly identifiable.
